This limited run Revox B215-S cassette deck, dubbed "the Signature" issued to celebrate Studer's 40th anniversary, features a black faceplate but is otherwise identical to the original B215 cassette recorder. The B 215S has the rugged Revox transport with two microprocessor controlled motors for tape winding and two individually controlled motors for the dual capsatans. Three heads permit optimization for erase, record and play, with tape/source monitoring. Revox dispenses with doors and loading mechanisms.

The tape inserts directly into the well and the entire tape head assembly pivots rather than slides into place. This eliminates a major cause of azimuth error where the tape is misaligned as it passes the heads.

The head block consists of a massive hunk of metal preventing warp-age and slippage, other causes of misalignment.
